Merry Effen Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all you awesome people! Like I posted in my previous post, not too much going on with my riding. I am still having on and off days. I have yet to have two consistent weekends where I walk away pleased with how the day went. I am starting to think it is all mental. I am over thinking every little action on the track.

Anyway, Xmas is today! The family were very good to me today. My wife hooked me up with new Fox Racing Honda 180 Jersey, Pants and Gloves. Pimp. My Dad, Mom, Sister and Brother-in-Law surprised the hell out of me with a HJC ACX3 Carbon helmet. I think I almost jeezed my pants when I unwrapped the gift and saw the HJC letters.

Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

Word to your Mutha!

Nothing much going on with the riding. I'm not planning on making any worthwhile updates until Christmas is over and done with.

See you in the new year!

Can I ask you a personal question?

Do you douche?

No?

Well you should! Yo shit stanks!

That was taken from a script for a Massengil commercial that never made it on air. I don't really know why. If I would have seen that I would have started douching 3, maybe even 4, times a day.

Ok acting like a retard is done…for now anyway. Thanksgiving is over and I plan on going riding tomorrow. This week we Texans have had to put up with weather we aren't used to. Hopefully the ground will dry up and CCCP will be able to have a nicely prepped track.

I have some new things I want to try out to help me keep my momentum going during the day. Last time I went riding I was dead tired at the end of the day. I am planning on some higher protein snacks throughout the day. Hopefully I will see some improvements in performance.

The New Hotness

Earlier this week I posted the Kawasaki for sale/trade on craigslist. That same day I received an email from a guy with a 2004 Honda CRF250 . Here is the email:

I have a 2004 Honda CRF250 that my son rides and he might consider a trade. The bike is in very good condition and is a powerful and fast bike. However, the 4 stroke power is much easier to manage than that of a 2 stroke as you know. I will talk to him later on today to see if he might be interested in getting back on a 2 stroke. Our bike has approx. 45-50 hours andruns great. Pro Circuit T4 exhaust and radiator guards and OneIndustries Graphics package. My name is Jon and we are in Southwest Austin.

Thanks

After a few more emails back and forth we decided to meet at the Austin-Del Valle MX Park on November 4. The plan was to get a feel for each other's bikes and make sure we we like the ride.

As soon as I got on the bike and rode it around the parking lot I knew I was going to like it. The power delivery and handling of the bike felt 10 times better than the Kawasaki. After we both drove around the parking lot we jumped on the National track and took about 3 laps. Then we pulled to the side of the track and switched back bikes for comparisons. That only lasted 1 lap. He didn't like how soft his bike felt and I still found it difficult to get the power down to the ground. After I rode the bike all day I knew I was going to see some consistent improvements.

Just to make a long story short, I traded the Kawasaki + $300 for this awesome bike. 4-Strokes > 2-Strokes

Stalemate

I think I am hitting a stalemate when it comes to my riding. I don't think within the past two months my riding has improved at all. A big part of that I think it the Kawasaki.

Before I bought the bike I told people I was looking at moving from a 4 stroke to a 2 stroke and they looked at me like I was retarded. Even after I got the KX250 and rode it I didn't understand what the big deal was. Now that my skills have improved I am finding that riding the 2 stroke is seriously difficult at my skill level. In hopes of bettering myself as a rider I have posted the bike for sale on Craigslist and TON. I have asked for $2900 or a trade for a 250 4 stroke.

Practice 10/22/06 - ADV

After taking two weeks off from riding, I have returned!!!! I know what you're saying. How could I have left the sport knowing my absence would ruin it. Attendance records has dropped 96%, fans have committed suicide. All I can say is A playa has to do what a playa has to do. Nah mean?

After feeling like Robert Downey Jr in rehab I thought I may need to take a break. The break must have been a good thing because I was on my game today. Granted my game wasn't quite good enough for the day track on ADV. So I stuck to working on my corner speeds on the Veteran/Beginner track.

After warming up I ran into this guy Dennis I met at CCCP a few weeks back. We have been riding MX bikes for about the same amount of time and our skills are about par with each other. Dennis suggested we race around the Vet track. We did and I must say it was a blast. I got more out of these runs then I have gotten in the past 2 months of riding my my lonesome. I felt pretty quick but no matter how much ahead I got he would always catch me in the corners.

Towards the end of the day I decided to jump onto the National track. I haven't been able to get into a groove like the first time I rode it. During my last lap on the track I came up short on the Finish line and cased it. My head went into the handlebars pushing my helmet over my eyes. As my helmet got pushed up my googles ripped the hell out of my eye brows. Good times!

Practice 10/08/06 - CCCP

My four day weekend of sweet ass riding was just not meant to be. First I over did it on Friday leaving me sore for Saturday. Then, Ian and Tye flake out on me today.

I woke up today feeling good but kind of medicine head feeling. But I was determined to go out today. So I packed up the bike, dog and wife and headed out to CCCP.

Shortly after arriving I started booting up. Into strapping up the first boot I got seriously out of breathe. These are not new boots. They have been broken in and are easy to strap up. When I say easy think about how easy it would be to get into Tonya Harding's pants. Yeah! It's that easy. So there is no reason I should have been out of breathe. I didn't really think anything of it so I went onto the track. Half way through my first lap on the night track I was really fucking out of breathe. I felt like I just ran a long distance. I just taking a break and getting back on the track and the same thing happened. With the shortness of breathe I couldn't focus on keeping my heading up. So I was making mistakes left and right. Probably no more than an hour after getting to CCCP I packed up and left.

Maybe I am coming down with something? Did I maybe catch something after that night with Tonya Harding?

4 days of sweet ass riding were not meant to be.

No Practice

No practice today. I am feeling like what you look like. Ooooooooh Snap!

Just Kidding, you know I love you.

Ian and Tye said they would want to go out to CCCP tomorrow. So I will rest up and continue my four three day weekend of riding.

Practice 10/06/06 - CCCP

Around the half way mark yesterday I got the itch…not that itch. I am currently treating that one with topical cream. I am talking about the itch for riding. I knew just going for a couple hours after work was not going to scratch the itch I had. I felt the need, the need for speed, 4 days of it.

Right away I start looking at my team's calendar to see if Friday and Monday were available. What do you know, only one person scheduled to be off. Boo Yaa! A short phone call later to my team lead and I had a 4 day weekend. 4 days of some sweet ass dirt bike riding.

This morning my ass was out of bed at 6:45 and the truck was packed up no later than 7:05. This is a huge thing for me. Since I have developed a strong dislike of my job I haven't been able to get out of bed no earlier than 7:30. But if dirt bikes are mentioned we (Me and My Ass) can't get up early enough.

After I dropped Alev off at work and made the normal stops for water and energy drinks I got to the track between 8:30-9:00. I geared up and took a few warm up laps around the night track. Just from my putting around I could tell that today was going to be a good day.

After I was warmed up and my muscles were bulging (No my muscles don't really bulge. I just wanted to say bulging and this was probably the only appropriate way I could use the word) things were just…flowing. I don't know how else to describe it. My speed was picking up on each lap, my body had a perfect stance and jumps were just passing underneath my feet. I was even getting good speed coming out of the sand turn. That is a huge success for me. I was able to keep up the good pace even after taking some long breaks.

Around 12 I called Ian and let him know that I was out at the track just in case Tye or himself wanted to join. Not sure why I was doing as I was pretty much done for the day. I also didn't think he would say he would come out because, well he has a broken ankle. Nope! He would be out there in an hour.

When Ian got there I was completely out of energy. But I felt the need to ride anyway. How often is it that I ride with anyone. Broken Ankle or not I couldn't help make sure I was going faster than him. By the end of the day I was dead tired.

I think I may have just screwed up my 4 day riding weekend. I am going to be hurting tomorrow.

New Theme Completed

New theme is complete. It's pretty slick if I don't say so myself. I enjoy doing these themes. Which is why I change them some much.

If you want a theme for wordpress done let me know.

Leave some comments with your thoughts about the theme.

My next project is probably finding a way to auto change themes every week or so. This would help keep things fresh for me.

Pardon our progress.

I am going to be working on a new theme for SRR.com. I have grown tired of this 2 column layout(Big surprise!). I am going to try and work on a 3 column so that I can start posting some pictures in the posts.

G.O.A.T.

Who do you think of when I say the Greatest of All Time? Ali? Ricky Carmichael? Tyson (lol)? no! You think of Sir Robbie Rob himself…or at least you should be…ok, ok only my Mom, Sister and Wife. Just give it some time and all the rest of you will soon be saying "Sir Robbie Rob? He's the Greastest of all time!".

Becoming the GOAT isn't as easy as you may think. It is going to take a lot of work, mental and physical, and a ton of heart. *Starts to play "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor (or if you prefer you can mentally picture the CKY version of the song)*

The jokes aside, The past couple of practices that I have had have been pretty much crap. I think I have hit a wall when it comes to improving my skills. So I have started to read up on workout routines for mx riders. With everything I have gathered I have come up with my own workout routine which I will start…yesterday!

Here is a breakdown of what the workout will consist of.

  • Riding 4 times a week. When I am in shape this will be moved up to 5 times a week. The main thing I am going to take away from this is time on the bike. The more time I will spend on the bike I will develop better riding skills, comfort, and better balance.
  • To help with recovery of riding this much I will need to get back on track with my diet. I will also look more into a drink called EnduroxR4 which is supposed to help with rebuilding muscle protein for quicker recovery times.
  • 2-3 practices I will be running two 45-60 minute sessions at 100%. Prior to these I will do a 5 minute stretching sessions then a 15 minute session to warmup.
  • On other days I will be concentrating on other TBD drills.
  • I will be keep a journal of my practices to reflect on the happening of that day. I will be posting excerpts from those journals here.

That will cover the riding portion of the routines. I will also need to be doing some exercises to better myself when I get on the bike. The goal of the cross training is to have fun. If I don't have fun with it I am going to loose interest in it. To make the training more fun I am going to use a points based system. Something like this:

Run 1 mile = 1 point, cycle 3 miles = 1 point, Mt. bike 2 miles = 1 point, swim 1/4 mile = 1 point, rock climb 1 hour = 1 point, airdyne or row 1/2 hour = 1 point, 1 set tennis = 1 point, rollerblade 2 miles = 1 point, 1/2 hour weights = 1 point

For the first couple of weeks I am going to work towards 50 points a week. That should be like running 50 miles. *puke* This will also be logged in the logbook/journal.

I will give it a few weeks and see how it goes. If anyone out there wants to join in with me, shoot me an email.

The workout routines has taken peices of other peoples workout and made into my own. Thanks to texasoffroad.net, 5 Magic MX School, and google for the information I used to compile this.

Slackin'

I have been seriously slacking when it comes to updating the blog with the current happenings. I am currently trying my hardest to get www.undercoverfoodcritics.com and www.theswalls.com up and going. They are taking up much of my time when I am on the computer. But I am going to start making an effort and make a posting here at least every other day. That is how much I love you all.

Have a Shpadoinkle Day!

August turned out to be a crappy month for any improvements on the bike. Mainly due to the fact I didn't have the bike but also because all of the stuff we have going on with the house.

For anyone out there needing interior or exterior paint work done….DON'T USE BOURGET PAINT! The work was complete crap.

Anyway, How are you doing? Really thats fantasticle! Me? Besides the case of the runs I am doing awesome.

I am going to make another post later today about riding. Peace Out!

Can you feel it, Can you feel it, Can you feeeeelll it

It seems everything has come to a halt in regards to the goals I set for my motocross journey.

Zabor's still hasn't done anything with my bike. I called them up last Wednesday and asked the status. Their response was "I haven't even opened it up yet" and then hung up on me. I really doubt those guys will have the bike back to me today. I am thinking about going there to pick up the bike and take it somewhere else with good customer service. Great work or not there is a line to how shitty you can be to your customers.

My diet is also something that seems to have come to a halt. Since we moved out of the house last week for re-modeling we are eating a lot of fast food. I think we may go shopping tonight so that we don't stray too far from the diet.

The downtime hasn't been a complete waste. I started reading the Pro Motocross & Off-Road Riding Techniques by Donnie Bales. It has given me a lot of stuff I will need to work on when I ride again. The main thing being the stance I take when riding. Right now I think my stance is more of a just cruising around type thing. I am giving up alot of control riding like this.

I think thats it for now…

The talent has left the building.

Short and Oh So Sweet

We currently have our hands full with getting our house painted and new carpet installed. So there isn't much time for much of anything else.

The Kawasaki is still at Zabor's getting a complete overhaul done. Together we determined it was a bad crank seal causing the problems I was having. Since they have to open the case to fix the seal we might as well replace everything else.

I haven't had the bike for a week and I am joansing for a fix. If you let me ride YOUR bike I'll suck yo…not quite to that point yet.

Chest is still killing me from the fall I took out at CCCP.

I don't have my weight paper thingy with me so I can't post actuall numbers. But the last weigh in was somewhere around 200.

Peace Out

Bada Bing!

There seems to have been a ton of changes since my last update. I am no longer using redslush.com for my blogging services. I am now using SirRobbieRob.com which I think fits better :) Redslush.com will be used for all of the stuff I am trying to get off the ground.

I finally went out to Austin-Del Valle MX Park. That place is a lot more technical than CCCP, more so than I am capable of riding at this time. I did hit the tracks "Veteran" track and was clearing a jump or two.

I have been out to ADV twice. The first time was the Saturday that my mom flew into town. There were a great group of guys out there. They were real helpful with feedback and just overall nice people. The second time I went out there was last Wednesday for night practice. Holy shit! I don't think I have been around some many assholes at one time. Most of them were kids that were barely 16. They were obviously rich spoiled kids and they had no problems letting everyone know it. I wish I could say all of them were crap riders but some of them had me in awe. Besides all the punks at the track Wednesday just turn out not to be a really good riding day. My riding didn't get any better and I felt like I couldn't get comfortable on the bike. I was hoping to practice by corner speeds but they say no improvements. Actually, I don't think I can say there were any improvements from this day out.

On Friday I headed out to CCCP with Ian and Tye. Both of these guys just picked up new 4 strokes. Tye got a 2004? Yamaha YZ 250 and Ian bought a brand new 2006 YZ 250 Anniversary Edition. Pimp!

I could tell this was going to be a good day. After a day of having guys to ride with I can instantly tell my skills have improved in some form or another. I did a few warm up laps on the Beginner course. Once again I felt this weird uncomfortable feeling on the bike. Ignoring this I moved over to the night track (Day Track was closed as they were prepping for Saturday). As soon as I got onto the track I just starting riding faster than I should have been. I came into the fourth turn, which had been rutted out, and slowed almost down to a crawl. I could see the ground coming at slow motion. The front wheel had popped out of the rut and threw me all cock-eyed. The bike went one direction and I went the other. As soon as I hit the ground I heard a pop and thought I had broken my collarbone again. I did this nice tuck and roll then got to my feet. I shook it off and as far I could tell I didn't break anything. Just some scraps, bruises, and sore chest. Shortly after my fall Tye hit the same spot. We ended up riding until about 8:00-8:30 and we were worn out. I definitely need to fine some more riding partners that can go more frequently. I noticed far more improvements on Friday than the past two months I have been riding by myself. So if anyone out there wants to go out riding on Wed, Fri, Sat, and Sundays and you are in the Austin area let me know.

Moving onto the bike. The 3 times I have taken it out and rode with it, it has been awesome. This past Friday I had a lot of oil pouring out of the exhaust. I am not exaggerating when I say pouring out. There is oil coming down from the exhaust pimp and all over the rear of the bike. Tye and I tried playing with the air/fuel but to no avail. After getting home and doing some reading I believe it may be a bad crank seal as it looks like I am going through some gearbox oil. Off to Zabor's for a week or two. boo! I think I need another bike to cover me when the other is down :D

Some pictures for your enjoyment!

Weigh-In 07/12

I am a little late with this weeks weigh-in totals. I had my mom in town and was spending time with the family.

The weigh-in for this week is 203.8. The total loss is 9.4. Not too shabby.

Sunday, July 2, 2006

Weigh-In 07/01

This week I weighed in at 209.6. So total weight loss is 3.6.

We went out to Cross Creek on Saturday. We spent about 40 minutes trying to get Alev familiar with being on a Dirt Bike. But the bike was too tall and she was unable to reach the ground. She ordered a lowering link tonight that will lower the bike 2 inches and allow her to reach the ground.

I got the Kawasaki started and tried getting it warmed up but I fouled the plug. Guess what? I had no more plugs with me so that ended my first day out with the bike. Which wasn't too bad because it started raining. Ian and I decided to ride around the track while it rained. Riding the Honda through all the mud was fun.

It's Here

Today has been like christmas…but in June. We picked up the STi this morning and bought the new dirt bike tonight.

It's a 2004 Kawasaki KX 250 and this is going to be the thing that kills me. I am planning on taking it out to the track tomorrow night for some get to know you time. Who knows I may even take it out to dinner and a movie. Maybe even a little tail pipe action? Stay tuned for the hot steamy XXX pics!

Weigh-in

They initial weigh-in is….drum roll please….213.2. Fuck!

Holy God I have gained a little over 20 pounds since January. I will update y'all with the weight every week. Already this week I am down to 209.0. I will see if I can keep the momentum going. The ultimate goal is 155. I will not be waiting to reach that goal in order to compete. As soon as my riding skills are strong enough I will sign up for the nearest race.

That's all for now. Have fun!

“I ain’t no Captain Save-A-Ho!”

It seems like things are not moving at the pace that I would like them to. So far this week I have only made it out to the track once and that was on Monday. It also looks like it may be a little while before I can pick up a bike for racing.

Anyway, I went out to Cross Creek Cycle Park on Monday. It took me a while to get used to the bike as I haven't been on it for awhile. After getting re-acquainted, I did a few laps on the Beginner track then moved over to the Night track.

The 230F's weaknesses really showed on the night track. As I would come out of a hairpin turn the bike would struggle to get up the jump. Once I did get up the jump I caught like 8 inches of air! Beat that McGrath! God I can't wait to get a race bike :)

I start weight watchers tomorrow morning. I think this is going to be my fifth or sixth time back to them. But I have more motivation now than the initial time I went. I am also planning on getting a membership to Clay Madison for the gym facilities. Once I get into a groove I will get a membership to Gold's.

Next update I will post my initial weight and keep it updated every Saturday.

I need to find some riding partners. Anyone out there in the Austin area that wants to ride during the week let me know.

I love you all.

New Direction

I have decided to take this blog into a different direction. Currently I have been using it for a web gallery and posting random bs blogs. Now, I will use this as a place to record my transition into Motocross racing. This is a dream of mine and has been since I was 13.

Just recently I purchased my first dirt bike, a 2006 Honda CRF 230F. The reason for selecting this bike was because of the ease of use, low maintenance and I didn’t think I would ride motocross. But I was wrong, I have since rode some moto with the 230F and I love riding motocross!

In order for me to be able to compete there are a few things I need to get working on. The first thing, I need to continue practicing my riding. I don’t want to jump into a race situation and kill someone or myself.

Secondly, I need to lose some weight and start working out (ugh!). However, I don’t think working out on my own will help. From doing a lot of reading it looks like guys just go off and start lifting weights and doing random things that don’t help out. I brought this up at work today with Clint and he offered his services to help train me. I told him on top of weight training I need to do alot of cardio preferrably on a road bike. Now I just need a gym membership.

The last thing I need (even though its not really the last thing) is a motocross bike. The 230F is meant if anything to be a trail riding bike. It lacks the power and handling to compete with the guys that race. My current plan is to pick up a 250cc but I will continue looking for information on beginner rider races.

Just to give you some perspective on how difficult this whole thing may be, many pro motocross and supercross racers retire around 27 years old. I am 26 years old. So stay tuned for my journey into Motocross racing.

Random Stuff

How do you sharpen your mind when everything in your life has become habit?

Everyone should just spit out what is on their mind and not hold anything back. I think I am good at this. A little too good.

How can I grow as a person when I am holding my self back?

How come people can never let go of the past? People change and don’t need to be reminded how of big of an A-hole they were.
Dreams

  • Ride a motorcycle in the Score’s Baja 500 & 1000
  • Ride in a MotoX race
  • Own my own business
  • Get a license to compete in wheel-to-wheel racing (NASA, SCCA)
  • Build a Custom Car. Right now I want to do a Camaro
  • Write a Novel & Screenplay

No matter how much I might change my mind about hobbies and everything else these will never change. So how about you guys try to be supportive for a change.

No matter what I still love you all!

VPX Redline

Man I am tweaking hard right now. No I’m not talking about being high on Meth or anything. I bought this energy drink at GNC called Redline after reading reviews how people have been shivering to death and freaking out. So, naturally I had to try it.

Well I tried it and it didn’t do anything but leave a nasty ass taste in my mouth. I figured the reason nothing happened is due to the disgusting amount of sodas I drink in a day. So I decided to take a break and cut back on sodas. Just so I could feel the effects of this energy drink.

So I try again after a few days of detox. I am feeling it now and I want it to go away. My mind is in overdrive and my chest is about to blow up. I don’t know if I am typing actual words or total jibberish. This drink is badass!

I love you all!

Jinxed

I think I jinxed us with the ‘GTO is gone’ post. In the post I listed the following:
1997 Honda Prelude - still kicking

This must have pissed off the car gods because shortly after we started getting a huge humming noise from the transmission in the Prelude. We found out the its the planetary gears in the transmission and it needs to be taken apart and replaced. $$$$ In the same week as this started in the Prelude, the 1500 lost its brakes. We haven’t really figured out if we are going to fix the Prelude or buy something else. We just don’t want a car payment.

Brain Damage

So the painful lessons in how to ride a motorcycle continue. Yesterday I decided to take the bike around the block because I hadn't ridden it for a week or so. All is going smoothly until I get into our driveway. Thinking I was in neutral I chopped the throttle so the bike wouldn't die. Big Mistake! As I lunged towards our pickup truck I quickly realized I wasn't in neutral. I hit the truck and then seemed to hit the ground and bounced onto our sidewalk. I now have a huge gash (haha I said gash) in my leg, that took forever to stop bleeding, and a rattled head. Today I feel sore as hell and am completely out of it. I was talking to a co-worker and it was a huge effort to put together sentences. If the pain and confusion don't go away by tomorrow I will go to a doctor to get things checked out. I also think I will put the dirt bike on hold until we get back from Mexico. I don't want to be on my honeymoon with any broken limbs.

Motocross Champion!

I went out to CrossCreek this past Wednesday with Ian and rocked the shit out of the beginner MotoX track. Yeah I said beginner track!

I have been riding 100% trails since getting the bike and this was the first time jumping the bike. It handled really well but it is on the heavy side. Can’t wait till the next time.

2006 HONDA CRF230f

Papa's got a brand new bag..a Honda CRF230F dirt bike bag! For the past three weeks Alev and I have been going out to Cross Creek Cycle Park and for the past three weeks my day has ended earlier due to not having the right tools or breaking a part. fucking trees! My riding skills are improving but I am still giving a little too much love to that front brake while turning. Pictures of the bike and some various pictures from Cross Creek have been posted in the gallery.

GTO is gone!

We have sold the GTO back to carmax and we have once again been unable to keep a car for a long period of time.

Here are the list of cars I have owned since getting my driver license and their fate.
1989 Isuzu PuP - Blown Engine 3 months after buying it
1984 Chevy Chevette - Sold for $100
1994 Mazda Protege - Broke down then traded it in for the Jeep
1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - Traded in for 2004 GTO
1992 Ford Mustang - Sold
1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 - Totaled!
1992 Plymouth Laser - Junked
1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse - Junked
1989 Honda CRX HF - Sold
1997 Honda Prelude - still kicking
2004 Pontiac GTO - Sold
1992 Chevy Silverado 1500 - 300K and still kicking.

This is what happens when you have a short attention span and love cars.

Oh well! At least now we don’t have any car payments.
